Description
«...Among these structures, a two-story stone tenement building — erected in 1907 along the building line of Argunskaya Street, in the central block bounded by Sofyiskaya, Blagoveshchenskaya, and Bolshaya streets — stood out for its Eclectic-style architectural features. It was commissioned by Fedor Fedorovich Zenzinov, a physician and public figure. The owner occupied some rooms personally and leased the remainder as residences and medical offices to prominent Chita doctors. During the February Revolution, the building was repurposed to house the private commercial school of Baroness M.G. Rosen;following its nationalization in 1922, it accommodated various educational institutions, primarily in the consumer and trade-cooperative sectors.
Designed by architect L.I. Korganov, the building was constructed from red (partly shaped) brick produced at the factory of local industrialist G.A. Yudovich. [...] The interior boasts unparalleled molded decorations: a central eight-petaled rosette framed by three circles, a combination of run and molded elements, forming an ornamental lattice, a chain, and dentils. The corner molded elementsfeature a complex interweaving of scrolls.
The external decorative treatment [...] is characteristic of stone buildings in pre-revolutionary Siberia urban architecture; notably, the building has retained its distinctiveness, rendering it of particular architectural value to Chita’s cultural-historical environment».
