1856Description
«Built in 1856, it is one of the oldest wooden houses in Transbaikalia. The monument exemplifies a single-chamber log dwelling that preserves features of traditional vernacular residential architecture of the eighteenth–nineteenth centuries. The single-storey log frame comprises six courses of round pine logs 0.42–0.46 m in diameter.
Its original footprint measured 6.0 × 5.7 m. Later, an unheated half-log annex, measuring 5.6 × 2.8 m, was added to the north-eastern side. The roof is of the traditional log crib (samtsovaya) type. The date ‘1856’ is carved on the cheek of the right bracket. Floors and ceilings are timber planking laid on joists. The south-western (front) facade displays brackets with a bottom oblique cut and carving in the form of a triple crest. Rectangular windows are framed by architraves with a tall frieze, crowned by volute‑shaped scrolls and shoulders. The windows retain double-leaf shutters».
