«...On 7 May 1949, pursuant to an order by the Council of Ministers of the USSR, a technical school was established in Chita to train specialists in logging mechanization. The technical school was initially located on Nerchenskaya Street. Subsequently, the institution was allocated an additional building on Tchaikovskaya Street. On 7 March 1952, the City Executive Committee adopted a resolution to allocate a land parcel for the construction of an academic building for the polytechnic technical school.
[...] The building’s main facade was designed to face Poly Osipenko Street, with its side facades fronting Lenina and Ingodinskaya streets. Construction was initially planned to commence in March 1953 and conclude in 1956.
The three-story stone building was constructed based on a standard design approved by the Chita’s chief Architect, Khodzhibekov. Actual construction commenced in May 1954. [...] The building’s construction was completed in 1957. The cconstruction work was undertaken by the Chitastroytrest, with the participation of special settlers and students.
In 1991, the technical school was granted college status and renamed the Forestry Technical College. On 1 January 2015, the college was renamed once more, officially becoming Chita Polytechnic College».
