«The wooden mansion was built in 1910 by architect F.E. Ponomarev. The house is set back from the red line and stands roughly in the middle of Nagornaya Street It has historically been the tallest and most architecturally dominant building in the entire block. This mansion is a representative example of a wooden house in the provincial Art Nouveau (modern) style. The building has an asymmetrical spatial layout made up of rectangular, cubic volumes of different heights. At the center there is the largest cubic volume containing the living room, and to its right there is a tower‑like volume with the stairwell, topped by a high tented roof with a spire. The house features an original decorative treatment: the exposed log frame is finished along the perimeter with a frieze strip made of sawn boards; the wide cornice is supported by carved brackets. The front porch is located at the southern corner of the house under a shingled roof with rounded outer corners. Each of the two carved posts in the porch railing has three carved brackets at the top, and the roof has got openings for drainpipes. On the main south-western façade at the level of the second floor, there is a balcony with a canopy supported by triangular brackets with sawn carving. On the first storey there is a tripatit window units, its shutters are made as a single bead flush panel with horizontal cuts on the insides, imitating horizontal rustication. The window surrounds (platbands) with superimposed carving are finished with a profiled shelf and a carved pediment supported by sawn brackets. The fence, constructed of forged pointed rods and brick pillars on a high base, is the only remaining part of the original enclosure; however, the masonry is crumbling, and the gate has been destroyed. Renovation work began in 2015, funded by the local budget».
